Ayrshire, birthplace of Robert Burns and home to the world’s most important golf tournament, where on a windy Wednesday morning in October 1860 professional tournament golf began. The first Open Championship at Old Prestwick attracted a field of 8 Professionals and today Turnberry and Royal Troon reinforce this unique championship connection to the south west.
