Earl of Mar Golf Couse - Par 70, 6650 yards
(Opening June 2009)
Designed by Dave Thomas, one of Europe's former Ryder Cup players and himself a two time British Open runner up. The course is built on mature Parkland bordering the River Clyde. Extending over 6650 yards, the Par 70 course offers 3 Par fives, 4 Par threes and 12 par fours. The setting is spectacular having the backdrop of the Mansion House on one side and the River Clyde and Old Kilpatrick Hills to the other.
The abundance of mature tree's and strategically placed bunkers and water features provide a good test of golf to players of all levels.
During construction of the golf course, many historical artifacts surfaced resulting in a three month archeological dig recovering a Bronzed aged house with evidence of a Bronzed aged settlement. Several Roman coins were also found as the Romans occupied the land over 2000 years ago. Location
