Loch Lomond

Possibly the world’s most famous Loch with the largest surface area of fresh water in the UK. Measuring 24 miles long and 5 miles wide, with its deepest point being some 600 feet.

Much has been written about Loch Lomond both in song and verse and it is renowned for its beauty, tranquillity and picture postcard views. On the Loch there are approximately 38 islands, some of which are inhabited. The most significant island is Inchmurrin where lie the ruins of Lennox Castle, Inchcaillach and the burial ground of the McGregor Clan.

Nature lovers can enjoy over 200 species of birds and over 25 percent of Britain's wild plants have been recorded in the area.

There are a selection of eateries and picnic spots as well as Loch cruises available (arranged locally).
