Once, golfers knew this area only for the famous La Manga courses, but recent years have seen a remarkablegrowth in the number of courses to play, with many more being developed. Currently there are12 courses to choose from, including the 4 Nicklaus Golf Trail courses, Mar Menor, La Torre,
Hacienda Riqueime and El Valle. By 2009 the Nicklaus Trail will include an additional 5 new courses.
