In 1891 while a guest of Lord Leitrim at his estate, Old Tom Morris winner of 4 British Opens in the 1860’s, took a drive to enjoy the Donegal scenery. He was quick to see the potential of this fine stretch of coastline and staked out the first Rosapenna Links. Located just a short stroll up the road from the fishing village of Downings.
