Carton House
Maynooth
From the moment you arrive, you will understand exactly why the 19th Earl of Kildare chose this spectacular location for the Fitzgerald family’s country seat. Built in 1739 and designed by the famed architect Richard Castles, the magnificent silhouette of Carton House overlooks one of Ireland’s most impressive country estates and two outstanding Championship golf courses.
Minimalist interiors, spacious modern rooms, contemporary art and sparkling chandeliers contrast magnificently with the untouched classic exterior and original antique pieces. The bright colours and contemporary artwork of the reception welcomes guests into the lavish and indulgent world of Carton House.
Carton House’s philosophy is simple food cooked tastefully, well presented and great value for money. The executive Chef has a real passion for food, knowing just the right time to explore his creativity and introduce some tantalizingly mouth watering dishes.

Carton House Montgomerie - Par 72, 7300 yds
Just as The O’Meara course reflects personality, so too do the 18 holes of the Montgomerie. You cannot call it a Links course, but it has all the characteristics of a Links. Punishing rough, firm fairways with fast greens and the intelligently placed bunkers that demand strategic shotmaking.
The Montgomerie course at Carton House was voted ‘Best New Design in 2004’ by Golf World, ranked 10th in Ireland by Golf Digest in January 2005 and was home to the Nissan Irish Open in 2005 and 2006.
Carton House O’Meara - Par 72, 7006 yds
A Parkland layout which explores the swooping pastures and tiptoes around the ancient trees on the magnificent estate. Feature holes include the 14th, 15th and 16th – a pair of Par 3’s wrapped around a heroic Par 5 – crossing the lazy loops of the River Rye. The opportunity to gamble is paramount as is the sense of tranquillity that the holes create. Host venue to the 2005 AIB Amateur Open Championship.
