The Golf Course

Nestling in the hotel's 220 acres of private grounds, Hellidon Lakes' championship course offers challenges aplenty for beginners and scratch golfers alike. Many of the 27 holes feature water hazards, albeit with a choice of challenging carries over, or safer routes around  the numerous lakes; on the par 5 twelfth, for instance, two long shots over the water can end in triumph or disaster, whereas three shots along the zigzag route can yield a solid par.

On your way round, you can't help but notice the diverse flora and fauna that flourish around the greens and fairways. Badgers, deer, foxes and a multitude of birds blend happily into the surroundings, the result of a deliberate policy to preserve large tracts of the valley as their natural habitat.
